Being able to identify the needs of the sector as well as the barriers to its sustainable development are aspects to which much attention has been paid in recent years, especially in areas where aquaculture conflicts with other uses of the coastal maritime space. In this sense, researchers are working to define the way in which social, economic and ecological aspects are integrated to overcome these barriers and to be able to develop aquaculture in a sustainable way.
